About

Background:

I have taught middle school science since 1987.   I have also taught Science Methods to student teachers at my local community college.  Furniture-making is a hobby of mine, and my workshop gives me the tools to create all kinds of scientific apparatus.  My wife, son, and friends are often guinea pigs for my projects.

A Website is Born!

In 2011, I was considering creating my own website.  Matt, a student of mine, exclaimed that my classroom was like the "Stithsonian Institute"!  A great play on words.

Mission Statement:

The goal of Stithsonian Science is to share my love of science with students, teachers, families--actually ANYONE interested in science.  The science of everyday life--things often overlooked--is one focus of mine.
